The best IPTV player for your device, compared (2026)
Glaze TV, TiviMate, IPTVX, UHF, OTT Navigator, Kodi, VLC and others compared on devices, price, program guide, catch-up, recording and sync, with a plain answer for each kind of device.
There is no single best IPTV player. There is the best one for your devices and for how you watch. A player that is excellent on an Android TV box may not exist on an iPhone; one that handles live sports with catch-up and recording may be clumsy with a large movie library.
This comparison was written by the team that makes Glaze TV, so read it with that in mind. We have tried to be fair: where another app does something Glaze does not, we say so. Every fact below was checked against the developers’ own sites and the official app stores on 29 September 2026. Apps change; check the store page before you pay for anything.
The short answer
- Android TV or Google TV, mostly live TV: TiviMate is still the reference for channel surfing, catch-up and recording. It is built for TV only and its extra features need a paid premium.
- Android TV plus a phone, iPhone or Windows PC: Glaze TV keeps the same library, favorites and progress on all of them, free and without ads.
- iPhone, iPad and Apple TV: IPTVX and UHF are the most complete. Both have paid tiers. Glaze runs on iPhone and iPad; its Apple TV version is not out yet.
- Windows: the choice is small. Glaze TV (with multi-view for up to four channels) or Kodi with the IPTV Simple Client add-on. VLC opens a playlist but has no program guide.
- Just testing a link: VLC, on any device.
What actually matters when choosing
1. Your devices, and whether they talk to each other
Start with the screens you watch on. Several well-known players exist on one platform only: TiviMate on Android TV, UHF on Apple devices. If you move between a TV and a phone, check whether favorites and progress follow you. Glaze and IPTVX sync across devices; most others keep everything on the device or offer backup files only.
2. The type of login your provider gives you
Providers hand out an M3U link, an Xtream Codes login (server, username, password), or sometimes a Stalker/MAC portal. Nearly every player handles M3U and Xtream. Stalker portals are supported by far fewer, among them TiviMate, OTT Navigator and Sparkle TV. Glaze TV does not support Stalker portals. 3. Live TV: program guide, catch-up, recording
A program guide (EPG) is standard. Catch-up (watching a program that already aired, if your provider archives it) and recording are not. If you watch a lot of live sport or news and rely on catch-up, pick a player that lists it. Glaze TV has a program guide but no catch-up or recording today.
4. Movies and series
Some players show a VOD list as plain file names. Others match titles to a movie database and add posters, synopses, seasons and a “continue watching” row. If most of your viewing is films and series, this matters more than any live TV feature. This is where Glaze puts most of its effort.
5. Price and ads
Models vary: free with ads, free with a paid premium, a one-time purchase, or a subscription. None of these include channels; you still pay your provider separately.
6. Is it still in the store?
IPTV players come and go. Before installing, check who publishes the app you are looking at:
- IPTV Smarters Pro: the original Google Play listing is no longer available. The same company still publishes “Smarters Player Lite” on the App Store. There are many look-alike “Smarters” apps from other publishers.
- Perfect Player: no official listing anywhere.
- OTT Navigator: the original Google Play listing is gone. Its developer now points to an APK and to apps named “OTT Player” and “OTT TV” on Google Play, published under a different company name.
- GSE Smart IPTV: the Android Pro version is maintained; the Apple versions have not been updated since 2022 and 2023.
Installing APK files from websites is possible on many Android devices, but you lose automatic updates and store checks. On newer Fire TV sticks with Vega OS, sideloading is not possible at all.

Where Glaze TV fits, honestly
Glaze is a good fit if:
- you watch on more than one kind of device, for example an Android TV in the living room and an iPhone or Windows PC elsewhere, and want the same library and progress everywhere;
- most of what you watch is movies and series, and you want posters, synopses, seasons and “continue watching” instead of file names;
- you do not want to type a password with a remote: the TV signs in by scanning a QR code with your phone;
- you want it free and without ads, with profiles for the family and a PIN for kids.
Pick something else if:
- you rely on catch-up or recording (TiviMate, IPTVX, OTT Navigator, UHF);
- your provider only gives you a Stalker/MAC portal (TiviMate, OTT Navigator, Sparkle TV);
- you need an Apple TV app today (IPTVX, UHF);
- you only need to check whether a link works (VLC).
