How to add an M3U or Xtream Codes playlist
The details you need from your provider, where to enter them on a phone, computer or TV, and what to check when the playlist will not load.
An IPTV player only plays what you give it. Glaze TV comes without channels or movies, so the first thing you do after installing it is add a playlist from your IPTV provider. There are three ways to do that: an Xtream Codes login, an M3U link, or an M3U file on your device.
What you need from your provider
Your provider sends these details after you sign up with them, usually by email or in their customer panel.
| Type | What you enter | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Xtream Codes | Server address, username, password | http://example-server.com:8080 |
| M3U link | One web address | http://example-server.com/get.php?username=…&password=…&type=m3u_plus |
| M3U file | A .m3u or .m3u8 file saved on the device | playlist.m3u |
If your provider offers both Xtream Codes and M3U, choose Xtream Codes. Movies and series arrive with their own categories and the program guide comes straight from the provider. The differences are explained in M3U or Xtream Codes?.
Adding a playlist on a phone, tablet or computer
When you open Glaze for the first time you can sign in, create a free account, continue as a guest or try the demo. If there is no playlist yet, the Add Playlist screen opens on its own.
- Give the playlist a name if you like. If you leave it empty, Glaze calls it “Playlist 1”.
- Pick the type at the top: Xtream, M3U URL or Local File (.m3u).
- Fill in the fields:
- Xtream: the server address, your username and your password.
- M3U URL: paste the link from your provider.
- Local file: tap the box and choose the
.m3uor.m3u8file.
- Tap Save & Connect.
Glaze checks the details, shows “Playlist connected and saved”, then prepares the playlist once: it sorts channels, movies and series and builds a search index. This can take a minute for a large list. Home opens when it is done.
A few things Glaze fixes for you in the Xtream server field: if you forget http://, it is added, and if you paste a full address containing /get.php or /player_api.php, everything from that point on is removed. If a server does not answer over http, Glaze tries https.
Adding a playlist on a TV
On Android TV the same screen is split into two steps so that it works with a remote.
- Choose the connection type: Xtream Codes, M3U Link or M3U File.
- Fill in the fields with the on-screen keyboard: playlist name (optional), server address, username and password.
- Select Save and Connect.
Typing a long address with a remote is tedious. There is an easier way: sign in to the same Glaze account on your phone and on the TV, and add the playlist on the phone. Xtream and M3U link playlists are saved to your account, so they show up on the TV without typing anything. Setting up Glaze on Android TV explains the QR code sign-in.
Adding more playlists later
There is no limit on the number of playlists, and you can switch between them.
- Phone, tablet, computer: profile menu, then IPTV Accounts, then Manage accounts, then Add new account. The same list is under Settings, IPTV Accounts.
- TV: Settings, IPTV Accounts, Add Playlist.
The account list also shows what your provider reports about the subscription: expiry date, the number of connections allowed, and how many movies, series and channels the playlist contains.
Which playlists sync to your other devices
- Xtream and M3U link: saved to your Glaze account together with the login details, so they appear on every device where you sign in.
- M3U file: stays on the device where you added it. Add it again on each device.
- Guest mode: everything stays on that device. If you create an account later, Glaze offers to move your playlist and watch history into it.
Keeping the playlist up to date
Glaze keeps a prepared copy of your playlist on the device so that browsing and search are fast. It checks for changes on the schedule set under Cache lifetime: every launch, every 2 days, every 3 days (the default) or weekly. It only rebuilds when something has changed. If your provider has just added channels and you want to see them now, use Refresh playlist compilation in the settings.
When the playlist will not load
Most problems come from the details or the subscription, not from the player.
- Wrong username or password. Copy them from your provider’s message instead of typing them. They are case sensitive.
- Expired or suspended subscription. Check the expiry date in the account list or in your provider’s panel.
- Too many devices. Providers limit simultaneous connections. If the limit is 1 and the playlist is playing on another device, the second one is refused.
- M3U link returns nothing. Open the link in a web browser. If it downloads a file, the link works. If you see an error page, ask your provider for a new link.
- The file will not import. Glaze accepts
.m3uand.m3u8files. A.txtor.zipfile needs to be renamed or unpacked first.
If none of these help, write to [email protected] with your device and what you see on screen. Never send us your password; we do not need it to help.
